Privacy policy.
What we collect through this website, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
North Hudson Bookkeeping LLC (“we”) is a New Jersey limited liability company providing bookkeeping services. To reach us about privacy, call or text (443) 600-8990.
What we collect
When you request a consultation or a written quote, we collect what you enter: your name, business name, email, phone number, preferred call time, the services you're interested in and any note you add. If you book through our scheduling page, Calendly collects your booking details under its own privacy policy. Our hosting provider records basic technical information, such as IP address and browser type, to operate and secure the site.
What not to send
Please don't send Social Security numbers, tax IDs, bank logins, account numbers or financial documents through this website. Clients share records through secure channels set up after an engagement begins.
How we use it
To reply to you, schedule and hold your consultation, and prepare a proposal. When you send a form, we get an email and a text alert with your name, phone number and message so we can call you back. We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for unrelated marketing without your permission.
Who helps us
Netlify hosts this website and receives form submissions. Calendly handles scheduling when you use it. Our email provider delivers messages, and a text-message provider sends us an alert when a new inquiry arrives, so we can call you back quickly. Google provides our search ads. For clients who authorize it, Anthropic provides the AI service our agents use to suggest how transactions are categorized. Each processes information only to provide its service to us.
Cookies
Our main pages don't set advertising or analytics cookies for ordinary visitors. Our ad landing pages (the pages a Google ad links to), and any of our pages you reach from a Google ad, load Google's conversion tag, which sets a Google cookie so Google can tell us whether an ad click led to an inquiry, a booked consultation or a tap on our phone number; it counts that step, not what you wrote or said. When you book, our scheduling page (Calendly) opens in a window on our site. Your browser may also remember one small preference on your device (whether the contact bar is minimized); it isn't sent to us.
Campaign tags
If you arrive from one of our ads or emails, the link's campaign tags (such as utm_source) and a random visit number are kept in your browser for that visit and sent with a form or booking, so we know which channel is worth our time. If you arrive from a Google ad, Google adds a click identifier (gclid) to the link. Our forms, including our ad landing pages, send it with your inquiry so we can see which ads led to real inquiries, and we may report back to Google which of those clicks became clients, to measure our ads. Only the click identifier and the outcome are shared. We never send your messages or financial details to advertising platforms.
Client books and QuickBooks data
When a client engages us, the client (or we, once invited into the client's company) connects the client's QuickBooks Online company to our private integration, North Hudson Bookkeeping Business Ops, through Intuit's sign-in. Through Intuit's API it reads the company's accounting records (company details, chart of accounts, customers, vendors, transactions and reports) and, when the client's engagement calls for it and the client has approved the work, records bookkeeping transactions. We use this data only to provide the bookkeeping services in the client's engagement letter. We don't sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to train artificial-intelligence models, and we don't show one client's data to anyone else. It's kept on the firm's own computer, which is encrypted and password protected; the QuickBooks sign-in tokens are kept in the computer's encrypted keychain, never in files or email. If a client authorizes it in writing, an AI service provider (Anthropic) receives the account names and transaction descriptions needed to suggest how a transaction should be categorized; under its commercial terms it doesn't use them to train its models, and a person at the firm reviews every result. Files a client uploads through our upload link are kept on that computer (files sent through a Dropbox file request are stored by Dropbox and synced to it). A client can disconnect the integration at any time in QuickBooks or by telling us; we then revoke our access with Intuit, and keep the client's records only as its engagement letter provides. The integration's terms are in our End-User License Agreement at /intuit/eula/.
Business emails
We sometimes email local businesses at the address they publish on their own website to introduce our services. Every such email says who we are and has an unsubscribe link; replying “unsubscribe” works too, and we stop right away.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry details as long as needed to respond and follow up, and delete details that don't lead to an engagement within 12 months. Client records are kept as described in the client's engagement letter.
Your choices
You can ask us to show, correct or delete the information you've sent us: call or text (443) 600-8990.
Changes
